I can’t remember if it was Enzo or Ferry… but the story goes one of them was presenting their cars to the FIA to meet the homologation quantity requirement. They showed the inspectors half the cars at the factory, broke for lunch, then drove to another location to view the other half of the cars. Of course, during lunch, the cars at the factory were moved to the second location. Or so the story goes!!
Has anyone else heard the same story???
My heart just skipped
@Heath
I’ve heard that story applied to Fiat Abarth as well.

That sounds like a very Enzo Ferrari move.
Sometimes they couldn’t find customers for all these cars. Expensive and impractical as road cars.

Ferdinand Piech, constructor of the 917 and head of Volkswagen today, admits in interviews (http://einestages.spiegel.de/static/topicalbumbackground/3993/heiliger_gral_mit_1400_ps.html) that the presentation of the 917 to the FIA has been the probably most risky moment in his life (meaning more risky than riding his Ducati 1098R full throttle at the age of 70+ and stuff i … by the way: did you know that he takes you to court, if you are talking bad of his tie???
Heath, the ‘magical lunch’ ocurred at Porsche factory, during the homologation inspection of first 917 series…
